  • If your reading and writing practices have changed since this class, how have they been modified because of English 100? I have started to write with more detail and I can now properly use quotations.
  • How have you become a better reader and/or writer? My reading has stayed the same, however , I am better at writing.
  • How has the blog encouraged you to write more thoroughly or has it not? It has not, I have a hard time connecting to the internet and it's hassle to get on the internet instead of just writing on paper.
  • What did you like about having a blog in a reading and writing course?  I could look back at what I have written anytime.
  • How is the blog similar to a journal? How is it different from a traditional journal? It's not as long or in depth.
  • What kind of experience have you had for English 100? Please explain. A suprise, I was used to doing papers on regular paper and assignments too.
  • What would you like to see change with this class including the smaller writing assignments and/or the task papers? The task papers were kinda boring, not to long though, maybe we could not use to blog so much.

Analysis of "In Praise of the F Word" by Mary Sherry

In the passage "In Praise of the F Word" by Mary Sherry she talks about how she teaches high school graduates that have been "cheated" by the education system. Students were just passed along to the next grade whether the understood the material  or not. I know many people who have graduated from high school and still have trouble spelling some words and simple grammar. I think Mrs. Stifter made a big change in some students lives, instead of just passing along student that didn't cause much trouble and didnt pay attention she flunked them. This made students pay attention and make English their main subject. The students in her class more than likely didnt not have to attend Mary's classes for high school graduates. Stifter wanted students to know exactly what they were doing and not just pass by like other teachers allowed them to. I have never had any teachers that let me pass by, our classes were small and the teachers were able to help whenever needed. They also wanted the best for their students.

Reflection of Task 3

Since I have been little all I have ever wanted was money, money so I could buy things to make other people happy, and myself as well. From a fairly early age I knew the only way of obtaining a job was to become more educated than the average working class people. In high school i was a C student my first two years, my last two I was an A/B student. I have started slacking a little bit in my first year of college, having learned my lesson I hope to switch that around. Barba Jordan mentions that it's not a good idea for people to go to college if they dont have the want or desire to go, I do believe that she's right. I know what it's going to be like if I dont have have a college degree, so thats why I have the want to go to college, to be successful.

Why did I decide to go to college?

I decided to go to college to one: learn more and two: I want to be successful in life. I work construction right now, I dont want to do that for the rest of my life. It's good money, horrible hours, and very little time off. I want a job where I can work normal hours, have time off and make lots of money doing a job I enjoy. It's also an accomplishment I want to make.
