"How The Interview Went"

I still wonder how hard it would have been to succeed in school with all of the difficult times in the 40's and 50's. The interview went well because my grandpa took me out to eat at 54th street! I learned that my grandfather is a very smart man, worked hard when he was younger and now it has paid off. I have not yet figured out how im goin to transition it into a written piece, I will have to get some help on that first. I wonder if Im going to be able to make this into a good writing assignment. I intend to get over this problem by getting help from my teacher or in lab.

2.What was the hardest part of school?

3. What made you go back to get a higher education?

4. Does your education have anything to do with why you are so successful?

5. What is one thing you wish you learned in school? why?

I picked these questions because I thought these question would get good open ended answers and make it more interesting to a listener.

Casa: A Partial Rememberence of a Puerto Rican Childhood

As a youngster I was always told to be careful who I hang out with, make smart decisions and always stay in school. I was told all the consequences that were possible if I failed any of them. They were told and taught to me so I could be smart and very successful, which has proved to be so far.

Task 2 Idea's

I am interested in interviewing my grandfather. The reason I am so interested is because he went to school when discrimination was a big deal, It's interesting to hear about how the society has changed so much. My grandfather is a big time business man who has worked his way up in life and is very smart and interesting to talk to, he can provide vivid detail for my questions. I want to ask what kind of person he used to be and how hard life was back in the day. He is one of the nicest people I know and i don't see him being un-fair or mean, even when he was young. I think it will be hard to keep on task about his education. Is this a good subjeact to interview?

"On Becoming a Chicano"

1. Define your racial identity. What struggles have you gone through? How are your experiences similar to those of Rodriguez?

I am partly Native American (Cherokee), and Caucasian. My struggles have been very limited, I have never had any serious problems, occasionly people might ask why my skin is dark or why my hair so dark. I belive having indian in me is a good reason why I have a good work ethic, common sense and good with my hands. I have never really had any expierences like Rodriguez, but like him I am proud to call myself a Native American..well partially anyways. Alot of times people think that I am Mexican because of how dark I am, but little things like that never seem to bother me much.

Idea's for Task One..

I want to write about something that has had a BIG impact on my life, something I think about everyday. When I first turned 16 a very close and good friend of mine died from the results of a car wreck, she wasn't wearing her seat belt which is why she didn't make it. Everyday that I get in my truck the first thing I do is think of her, and put on my seat belt, it only takes 5 seconds.. that 5 seconds could save your life! I am hoping that when people hear this and realize it could happen to anyone, then maybe they will take the time to put on their seat belt.
The only problem I can see  with this idea is that it will be hard to write about, it's hard just thinking about it. I have lost many to wrecks.

Would this be a good topic to write about?
Would it grab the attention of people reading/listening?

Blog 1

Hello, my name is Taylor Collins. I am from a small town in northwest missouri called Savannah. I am a hard working young man trying to find his way through life. I have my own small business and I am a supervisor for a construction company working in the union. I love to ride fourwheelers, muddin', riding horses, hunting, fishing, basically anything outdoors. I am a student at Missouri Western State University, I am majoring in nursing.
My first few years of high school I never really read much, never wrote much, just did enough to get me by. I am a very active person and sitting down to read or write is hard for me to do. I have only ready a hand full of books, the ones I did read though were very good and always had my attention. The longest paper I wrote was an 8 minute speach for my speach class. The teacher was very picky and some how I managed to get a B+. I don't really enjoy readying or writting but I dont hate it by anymeans at all.
